The perfect combination of oats, fruit, seeds, and nuts, muesli is a champion of the healthy breakfast table. And as delicious as store-bought muesli is, it’s super easy (not to mention cheap) to make your own muesli at home.
Here’s the muesli formula:
Rolled grains + dried fruit + nuts and seeds + seasoning
It’s that easy!
- Rolled grains
Oats, barley, rye, even rice can work as you grain for muesli. Just make sure not to use rolled oats as opposed to the highly processed quick oats.
- Dried fruit
Berries, raisins, dates, papaya- the options when it comes to dried fruits are almost limitless. And don’t forget that you can add fresh fruit in before you eat.
- Nuts and seeds
Feel free to add any type of nut or seed that you enjoy into your muesli. Make sure to toast them to bring out more of their delicious flavors.
- Seasoning
As for seasoning, warm cinnamon or ginger often work best along with a pinch of salt. Try to avoid sugar as the stickiness can mess up the consistency of muesli.
Made of a few simple and natural ingredients, muesli is great after a cleansing diet.
